About wordgirl56

Kids? Dogs?

Forgot to have them, but I love them. So if you have a few stashed away, that's fine. And bonus points for dogs!

A real writer?

Seriously! With a cache of published and unpublished poems and a sweet, sassy novel available on e-readers.

An awesome place I've visited:

Big cities, and some quirky little ones, are my favorite: New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Austin, Santa Fe. Over the water, Prague, SE Europe, always Paris.

My perfect Sunday:

After you finish my ironing, we'll read the Sunday New York Times together, and I'll cook breakfast.

The movie I've watched the most times:

"Master and Commander," "The Philadelphia Story," "Sense and Sensibility."

My life history in 5 sentences or fewer:

Learned to read. Learned to write. Learned to cook. Learned to think. Learned to love.

My first concert / My dream concert:

First important concert was an opera: "Aida" in Rome. Dream concerts would be impossible, since Mozart, Beethoven, Mahler, Maria Callas and Pablo Casals are dead. But I have seen a lot of dream rock concerts; Springsteen when he was first starting out, Elvis Costello about ten times, Talking Heads in the late 70s-early 80s.

Obscure knowledge I possess:

Sort of a show-offy question, but since I love obscure knowledge, it would be hard to pick.

I have a weakness for guys/girls who:

Are funny without knowing it, and without trying; guys who make eye contact; who like to try new things; who read a lot; and who are passionate about social justice. Perhaps a good time to include: no Republicans need apply.

For me, a first date no-no is:

Showing up late, drunk, and stupid. (Ref. "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son.") Being a jerk to waitstaff or thinking you're surreptitiously checking your phone.

What I would bring to show and tell:

A mesh and wooden box for shipping queen bees.

A story you should remind me to tell you on our first date:

The time you found you could climb a tree, but couldn't get down. Or one of the best days you've ever had, and why.

I secretly want to be:

No one but me.

I want to be with someone who wants to be:

Surprised.

If I won the lottery and quit my job, I would:

Start a foundation to support music in the schools. Every school.

I want to come home to:

An icy cocktail. A witty story. A fine thought.
