How about we… Have pre-dinner dessert at Donut Plant, share small (and large) plates at Bacaro, then see where the LES takes us.
How about we… Tour the Brooklyn Brewery, take each other on at Brooklyn Bowl, then end up with greasy BBQ and beer at Fette Sau.
How about we… Check out the Cindy Sherman retrospective at the MoMA, then follow it up with drinks and discussion at The Modern.
The dusty antique shops, artist-owned batik galleries, and beautiful beaches of Melaka, Malaysia. Oh, and serving Japanese vegan noodles (while monitoring sumo wrestling) at an awesome theme camp at Burning Man.
Sleep. Sunday Styles. Salacious stories over bloodies at brunch. Shopping. Super early disco nap. Friends & family fun, far too late into the evening.
Probably Auntie Mame with Rosalind Russell. Or It's a Wonderful Life. Really. Also up there? Watership Down, The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Princess Bride, In the Mood for Love, Star Wars, The Last Unicorn, Nowhere, Go, A Clockwork Orange... and My Best Friend's Wedding, which my mom and I have watched over homemade chocolate chip cookies on many an evening...
Once upon a time, a busy, busy, dancing, singing, writing, learning, reading, acting, painting (procrastinating) overachiever survived the mean streets of the suburbs and thrived in the city. She painted at Penn, partied in Chicago, and played (oh, and studied the law) at Harvard, before diving into NYC, where she floated among adventures, big personalities, and brunch dates... [insert more]... and, of course, she lived happily ever after.
First? Bryan Adams in an arena in Pittsburgh with my mom, aunt, and childhood best friend. Best? Oh, so many. Perhaps Peaches dangling from the rafters at a small venue in Chicago; Bjork anywhere; MIA at SOB's years and years ago; The Cure, also years ago; Scissor Sisters at Terminal 5; LCD Soundsystem's final show at the same location;... and oh so many illicit "events" in warehouses and fields and downstairs rooms... Dream? Oh, hm... let me get back to you. On a realistic level, perhaps Pulp, which I've loved for years. On a perhaps unrealistic level, I'm thinking of fabulous dreamy evenings in the late 90s in wooded clearings with thumping bass and love all around... :P
I'm weirdly good at short-term memorization, so I've possessed a ton of obscure knowledge in the past -- all forgotten now of course. Just making room for more. ;-)
Are truly quirky.
Nothing. As in, no rules. As a rule, I don't have "no-nos."
Tbh, I'd probably pick up something random along the way to the presentation and make up some fabulous and magical story about it that would make it seem incredibly special and perfectly chosen...
Don't. I have too many stories. Stop me. :P
Louise Bourgeois.
More and more and more. Oh, and more than that.
Painting, pink, politics, pop, playing, parties... and some not-so-shiny things too. Fruit Roll Ups. Johnny Cash. Halloween. Andy Warhol. Oscar Wilde. Video games. Faulkner. Paris and Pittsburgh. Gossip. Yoga. Rothko. Mindfulness. Sex Pistols. Steelers. Glitter....
Strap a travel easel to my back and head out to conquer (and paint) the world.
I'm a little too sensitive. Be gentle.
Surprises!
