About d.mac

An awesome place I've visited:

Two spring to mind: Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and Cambodia and the temples surrounding Angkor Wat. I love to travel and I've been all over the world.

The movie I've watched the most times:

Thanks to a particular high school summer spent watching, alternately, Star Trek: First Contact and Kenneth Branagh's Henry V, I'd say Henry V ends up the victor. Fun fact: the famous battle of Agincourt that is dramatized in the play occurred on Saint Crispin's Day, which happens to be October 25th.

My life history in 5 sentences or fewer:

Born and raised in Houston Texas. I've lived in West Africa, been educated in the Northeast, sung concerts on every non-snow-blasted continent and tried my hand as a collegiate crew coach, professional singer, ballroom dance instructor, and now private investigator. I suppose I have a penchant for non-traditional career choices.

My first concert / My dream concert:

Sting when I was around 8. I may never forgive my sister for starting to cry before the second half and forcing us to leave! Dream concert: Should I be ashamed to admit that I love Tom Jones? Regardless of your answer, I am not ashamed. Barring Mr. Jones, I'd love to see Girl Talk with my close friends.

Obscure knowledge I possess:

The date of Saint Crispin's Day, a commemoration which was removed from the liturgical calendar after Vatican II. Huzzah! More practically, I can teach you how to row properly on those rowing machines you often see in the gym but don't know quite what to do with.

I secretly want to be:

an astronaut, hands down. It's a shame that we've shuttered our manned spaceflight program. There are valid arguments against the need for such a program, but they are based on short-term concerns. Plus, no one ever grew up wanting to be a robotic space probe...

If I won the lottery and quit my job, I would:

buy a sailboat and spend some time sailing around the world. Then maybe start my own company or try to make a career as a singer/vocalist/voiceover artist.

I want to come home to:

a warm and friendly space with someone who intellectually stimulates me. I want a best friend that I can't take my eyes off of. Too much?
