Grew up in the South. Moved to the Midwest. Majored in anthropology, but what can you do with that? Joined Teach For America. Became committed to eradicating the achievement gap.

My dad was a country music singer, so my first concert was The Grand Ole Opry when I was a newborn. Dream concert: Oasis reunion.
