About JessFromHowAboutWe

An awesome place I've visited:

the backroom of the Museum of Natural History, where I touched the fanged tentacle of the largest giant squid ever caught (at the time)!

My perfect Sunday:

wake up early, exercise, eat a huge salad, go to a museum, cook while the last of the old-school PBS cooking shows are on, eat dinner, drink wine, read.

The movie I've watched the most times:

Tampopo, the first (and finest) ramen western.

My life history in 5 sentences or fewer:

I was born in New York City and raised just a little outside of it. In high school, I did things I wasn't very good at -- oboe, track, etc. After graduating college, I decided I'd only do what I loved and discovered the joy of connecting others.

Obscure knowledge I possess:

The menus and ambiance of many corporate cafeterias. I once worked as an incognito critic. They're sort of fascinating.

I have a weakness for guys/girls who:

are completely altruistic. have a raffish, slippery intelligence. are family men.

For me, a first date no-no is:

gossiping. Who gossips with you gossips of you.

What I would bring to show and tell:

my A++ paper from Harold Bloom.

A story you should remind me to tell you on our first date:

how I pitched Emeril my cooking show idea on a plane back from Paris...and he liked it!

I secretly want to be:

an actress, a mycologist, an author.

I want to be with someone who wants to be:

impactful, even if the road is hard.

If I won the lottery and quit my job, I would:

Assuming I HAD to quit, probably go to culinary school or get my MFA.

One thing my mother would want you to know about me:

I am terrified of low-flying birds (bad incident with a Mama Bird).

I want to come home to:

a healthy home-cooked meal with my guy, a cool clarifying drink, a good book.
