I studied in Amsterdam and felt like I was living in a fairytale... because of the architecture... really. The 17th-century facades and a labyrinth-like structure of streets and canals made for a different reality - even without the legalized mind-altering substances.

The Matrix - it continues to be my mind-bending metaphor for this existence.
My life was transformed by an amazing summer camp was when I was 17. Since, I've been trying to figure out ways to give back the gifts I was given. I do so through my teaching, through social activism, through dialoguing with folks about social change and justice. I think life is about healing and I do that through community, self-reflection, and pushing myself out of my comfort zone.
First concert was an underground hip hop concert at some hole in the wall in downtown LA. My dream concert would be Mos Def, The Roots, and Erykah Badu in a small, intimate venue.
