How about we… Do an unofficial bar crawl around the East Village to the (mutually exclusive) bar, pub and restaurant that all claim to be the oldest ones in NYC.
How about we… Join me for a walk through Central Park with my pup (and yours, if applicable). Destination: Bailey's Corner Pub - an (indoor!) dog friendly bar (or a sidewalk cafĂ© on a warm day).
One of my favorite trips was to Nigeria (for work). Although we had heavy security (3 bodyguards carrying AK-47's), it was fascinating to see the native people, culture and country. It may be one of the last unincorporated countries in the world (Starbucks, Target, and Apple have not invaded yet).
For Spring/Summer: sleeping in, lazy breakfast then renting a car and heading to beach. I found a "secret" beach near NYC that is never crowded (on July 4th last year, there were maybe 25 visitors).

Only child raised in Milwaukee by two immigrant parents (Germany and Algeria), first international travel experience when I was 14 (and hooked from that point onwards), college, professional career in DC, then Chicago before landing in New York7 years ago; the first three years living and working in NYC, I traveled extensively for work and filled every page of my passport (and had to have additional blank pages sewn in) - I can't wait to show that to my future children!
