I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and moved with my family to Maryland during high school. I appreciate the burbs but love Brooklyn more. I am that woman with the framed antique Brooklyn postcards in her apartment. I am always amazed by the size and diversity of this borough. I always wanted to be a teacher so I am now following that dream. 8-year olds are hilarious.
I am a native New Yorker, raised in a family art and antiques business, I've always been intrigued by life's "big questions," hoping to unlock its mysteries. This is what fueled both my personal intellectual and spiritual inquiries, as well as my present career as a professor of comparative religion at the University of Hawaii (where I live 9 months out of the year). I was educated at an international school, and see myself as a New Yorker and global citizen before identifying with any particular nationality. Likewise, I am a spiritual nomad, who enjoys learning what it means to be truly human, as I learn about the world one experience at a time.
One of my antique manual typewriters from the 1940's - you need strong fingers to smack that keyboard. Qwerty cool.

Coconut flavored foods, 'boy cut' underwear, comfortable earbud headphones, wolf dogs and the ones that look like wombats, Mormonism (just objectively), antique maps, ranch dressing on everything (thanks Ohio upbringing), house boats.
antique wooden boxes. Take 'em, refinish/refurbish 'em, put shit in them. It's simple, but it works.
Vinyl records, breakfast, antique shops.
Antiquated IQ tests.
I'm endlessly amused by the wonderful things I see, hear and experience. This month its been flea markets, antique and vintage shops, David Bowie, Architecture (art deco & nouveau) and the fine art of mixing cocktails, gin in particular. The list goes on from there...
My antique Singer sewing machine from the 1920's (that actually still works!)
