I'm an only child, born in a small town in Virginia. I spent a lot of time reading books and playing the piano. I studied music education at James Madison University but never really took to the teaching thing. I made the rounds of the DC cultural institutions doing arts management/education jobs then moved to Chicago for three years where I got my masters in arts management and worked doing musical theater with incarcerated youth.
