I am a native New Yorker, raised in a family art and antiques business, I've always been intrigued by life's "big questions," hoping to unlock its mysteries. This is what fueled both my personal intellectual and spiritual inquiries, as well as my present career as a professor of comparative religion at the University of Hawaii (where I live 9 months out of the year). I was educated at an international school, and see myself as a New Yorker and global citizen before identifying with any particular nationality. Likewise, I am a spiritual nomad, who enjoys learning what it means to be truly human, as I learn about the world one experience at a time.
