Irish Canyon, in the northwestern corner of Colorado. I took a road trip out west to visit a several different friends recently, and used Google's get directions feature with "avoid highways" checked, and then took the longest route option to get where I was going. I thought it had gone mad when it took me down a 23 mile stretch of gravel road, until I found myself driving through this gorgeous canyon, with an empty campground right about where I was starting to think about where to spend the night.
Born to back to the lander hippie parents in western Wisconsin, I have been Home schooled and self educated all my life. I bicycled from WI to San Francisco, by way of Vancouver, when I was 19. Spent the last seven years living in Madison working as a chef. Moved back home in September while I looked for work. Now I'm trying to find an apartment in Eau Claire so I'm not commuting 45 miles each way when I get off work at 12:30 in the morning.
Maps and route planning.
The Million Dollar Hotel, I think. I've probably seen The Princess Bride at least as many times when groups I was with watched it, and one summer when we were spending a lot of time with friends in town while mom was away and dad was at work some little brother or another insisted on watching The Little Mermaid at least once a day.
Some folk musician or another that my family went to see when I was small. I remember seeing Greg Brown and Bill Stains when I was fairly young. First rock concert was when dad dragged me to see Bob Dylan when I was 15. First concert I spent my own money on was Greg Brown again. Dream Concert? My friend's band, Please Do Not Fight, really needs to come east for a midwest tour.
Able to travel the world without worrying about money. (Ok, I'm not so secretive about that.)
How a water pumping windmill works. How to pour a proper Guinness. How to nearly eliminate your blind spot while driving.
Wake up next to someone I love, early even though we could sleep in, and spend some quality cuddle time in bed. Cook brunch together, and eat it on the porch or patio. Spend the day being active outdoors- riding bikes, hiking, playing frisbee... An hour or so of alone time in the late afternoon, followed by a walk near water and a picnic supper with a bottle of wine watching the sun set.
Are dark brunette with brown eyes, and/or take the time to draw me out and ask me questions, and/or don't fit neatly into socially constructed boxes.
Doing something like a movie that prevents us from talking and getting to know each other.
