Media Strategist at HowAboutWe.com

The Role


HowAboutWe.com has been called the “the epicenter of the First Date Movement” by Gawker, “A totally new kind of dating site” by the New York Times and the place to “Find Your Next Boyfriend” by Cosmo. We’re a rocking start-up and in this role you'll be on the front lines of working with press and media partners to tell the HowAboutWe.com story.

This is a unique position that lets you cultivate your marketing, editorial and project-management skills. You’ll be developing new ways to get HowAboutWe.com in front of journalists, bloggers, media outlets and new members. You will be crucial in developing interesting new ways to help millions of people discover an awesome new way to support their love lives and relationships.

The job will include supporting the HowAboutWe.com Media Strategy Director to orchestrate an innovative, world-class and culturally relevant media plan.

You will be managing multiple works streams in a fast paced environment that is in the know about what’s happening in the world and is heralding a new idea about modern dating. You will work creatively to promote that story through various media channels. This will include:

  • Working with people in the media, new and traditional alike, at every point in the story generation process.
  • Managing on-going business development relationships with media partners, such as NYMag and Someecards.
  • Identifying potential coverage opportunities and working to promote content, events, and HowAboutWe.com’s discoveries so as to raise awareness of HowAboutWe.com.
  • Organizing a variety of campaigns focused on targeted specific niche communities.

New media is one of your core interests: you get edit, understand grass-roots marketing and having a amazing news judgment, a 6th sense for how the news happens.

You think that dating, gender, sex, culture and the pursuit of the relationship you want is fascinating and worthwhile to understand.

You aren’t afraid to talk to strangers.

Details and Benefits


This is a full-time position, with medical insurance included. We keep our office stocked with coffee, soda, snacks, beers, and enough food to make lunches every day. We also get breakfasts and lunches delivered on a semi-weekly basis, along with frequent team happy hours and poker nights (and the occasional paintball outing).
