When Date Night Gets Epic: Inside an Underground Supper Club

Underground dining pioneer A Razor, A Shiny Knife – billed as an “educational, social and theatrical culinary experience” – is leading the secret supper club renaissance with gastronomic stunts. (Like that time they successfully served a six course meal to diners on the L train.) But the concept remains humble: people socialize, learn, and bond while preparing a meal to enjoy together.

The supper club took place

in a secret location in Manhattan.
The cocktails

were specifically crafted for the occasion.
Guests were given

the opportunity to learn how to concoct their own drinks.
A guest appearance

was made by liquid nitrogen.
Couples were invited and encouraged

to help prepare the 5-course feast.
The chef took the time

to show them a few tricks.
Attendees were also invited

to learn insider secrets on the art of plating.
Michale Cirino, co-founder

of A Razor, A Shiny Knife, always seeks to create an atmosphere in which his guests interact with the food and each other.
The menu included an array of succulent dishes,

including this meaty pork belly.
A 72 hour Medium Rare Brisket

was the main attraction.
Duck ravioli,

accompanied by white and black truffle and thyme, was another highlight.
And for dessert?

Caramel Popcorn ice cream, in the shape of popcorn.
