A couple weeks ago, we asked HowAboutWe users to write us with their success stories for the chance to win a Cancun vacation. We got a bunch of really great stories. Some were funny. Some were disastrous-but-sweet. Some are guaranteed to make you say, “Aw…”

It was really hard to pick a winner, but in the end we had to give it to this couple, whose whirlwind romance from confused to goofy to happily in love ultimately won us over.

Here’s Allison’s side of the story:

Dave posted this date on February 16, 2011: How about we…Go to the Celtics game and dance every time they slam dunk!

It was love at first slam dunk. But before that, there was a lot of confusion. Right before we planned to meet, he jokingly texted me that he was going to be wearing tons of green glitter and that I better be ready to dance. I half expected him to be a male cheerleader. We ended up having tons of fun at the game and hit dangerous levels of booty shaking. One year later and a lot of love and silliness in-between, he surprised me with a trip to see the Celtics in Chicago on the day we met last year. I never thought it would happen…but I’m so happy to have met the love of my life, and it’s all thanks to HowAboutWe!

And now, from Dave:

Actual phone call from Feb 16th 2011 – (We were to meet at Sports Grill or Fours Grill depending on who you ask)

Me: I’m the tall guy standing by the door next to the guy with the vest.
Allison: I’m standing right next to the guy with the vest!
Me: Huh? All right I am going to go outside, meet me out front.
Allison: Okay, I’m out front.
Me: So am I, and all I see is a guy begging for change!
Allison: Huh?
Me: I think we have officially entered the Twilight Zone or something…are you sure you’re real?

It was at that moment that we realized we were on the same street but in a different bar. Two minutes later, the most beautiful girl I have ever seen came walking down the street and I knew instantly that I was in trouble.

We tried to get on the Jumbotron, we high fived, we talked trash, we shaked our booties, we took as many Fan Fotos as humanly possible, we yelled out charge in the middle of plays and all the while I couldn’t take my eyes off of her.

Exactly one year later I told Allison to pack a backpack and surprised her with a trip to Chicago to see the Celtics take on the Bulls (were in Chi town in the picture attached) to celebrate the best year of my life.
