Date Tip: Scout Out a Backup Spot on Google Maps Ahead of Time
by Chiara Atik on June 26, 2012
Here’s a quick thing to keep in mind next time you’re planning a first date: once you pick a spot, whether it’s a bar or a park or a restaurant, spend some time on Google Maps (or Yelp, or whatever) and pick a back-up spot that’s right nearby. That way, if it’s too crowded/loud/cold/hot/full of your exes, you can immediately suggest a different spot.
(Because nothing kills a date faster than standing outside on the sidewalk, trying to figure out what to do instead, or aimlessly walking around the neighborhood keeping your eyes peeled for someplace you can go, all the while trying to come up with small talk with someone you basically just met.)
Have a plan. And then have a backup.
