“Swedish guys never pay, so a free drink is the easiest way to impress us,” writes Elin Unnes in the article.

Stick to neutral topics

“Avoid talking about politics or war,” Unnes advises. Instead, stick to safer topics: ask what they did for Midsummer, ask what the best dish to try in Sweden is, where they go on vacation.

Be humble

“Self-deprecation is a Swedish aphrodisiac,” says Unnes. No humble bragging! Make fun of yourself.

Know that the Swedes are down with casual sex.

“To us it’s like jogging: uncomplicated and good for your health.” In other words, Swedish women are DTF. Still, basic hook-up etiquette applies: be safe, be conscientious, and take your cues from her.

Make Breakfast

“If we do invite you back to our place, know that sleeping over is fine-but you’d better make a damn good breakfast. While we’re mellow about sex, we take our eggs very seriously.” Better learn how to make a typical Swedish breakfast!
