Online Dating 101: 3 Pictures You Should Have in Your Dating Profile
by HowAboutWe on January 30, 2012
Get this: people who have at least three photos on average get twice as many messages as people with only one photo.
So, here are a few pointers:
The Attention Grabber: Pick a main photo that tells something about you and gives them a reason to click-in. We see a lot of success when people use a shot that isn’t just a portrait: Travel photos (showing a well-known landmark or picturesque scenery) and hobby photos (like playing your guitar or rock climbing) are good. We recommend avoiding black-and-white as your main photo. They’re not as eye-catching when they’re next to a list of color photographs.
The Portrait: They need to see what you actually look like. Keep it real. A nice shot of you smiling in a natural setting is good. While sometimes your best photos are those with a friend, strategically cropping your BFF out of the photo is bad practice — it looks abrupt and unsettling. Opt instead for a solo shot.
“You Being You”: Guys look for photos that say “I can really see myself in a relationship with this girl” – and that includes everything from movie night at home to out and about on a Friday night to the office holiday party. Photos that reflect this show you doing an activity that he can see himself being a part of.
Bonus Tip: It’s totally ok to have friends in your pictures, as long as he can tell who you are — which is no problem because you have a few solo shots.
