Looking for a reason to cry at your desk this morning so that your co-workers look at you in alarm and quizzically hand you tissues? This week’s Modern Love essay in the New York Times should do the trick!

This one’s a doozy for a Monday morning — a horrible reminder that all marriages, even the happiest ones, end eventually, and the impact is shattering for everyone, whether it’s 25 years down the line or 50.

It’s hard to describe this essay eloquently, so I’ll just encourage you to read it for yourself. It made me both want to get married, and scared of where I’d eventually end up. Because the best ending for a marriage is that you stay together til death do you part, but that “best” is also the worst.
