The 25 Best Cities to Find a Date in 2012 Aren’t The Ones You Thinkby Chiara Atik on January 09, 2012
The Daily Beast has put together a comprehensive list of the best cities to find a date this year, using census data to calculate the number of available men and women, dating costs, overall mental health, and even google trends to see how many people in each city are using (or at least searching for) dating sites.
The results may surprise you, especially if you were of the opinion that major metropolitan cities are dating meccas. (Not so — neither New York City nor Los Angeles even made the list!)
In fact, it’s the mid-size city that makes the perfect locale for the singleton, not the overcrowded metropolis. In these unassuming towns, there tends to be a more equal amount of single men and women (aka an even dating plane), and lower cost of living makes a fun dating life more financially viable for a wider amount of people. (Compare a movie ticket in Gainesville, FL, at $8.86, to a movie ticket in New York City at $14.00.) Moreover, lower stress levels and better physical and emotional well-being makes the dating pools in these cities, well, a little happier than in other places.
Not that dating is impossible in larger cities — if it were, no one would live there. But if you’re seriously getting frustrated with your dating pool, you might want to book your next vacation to one of these unlikely spots:
1. Atlanta, GA
2. Gainesville, FL
3. Lincoln, NE
4. Austin, TX
5. Minneapolis, MN
6. Seattle, WA
7. Madison, WI
8. San Francisco, CA
9. Ann Arbor, MI
10. Washington, DC
