Poll Results: Sleeping Arrangements at Your Parents House are Predictably Awkward
by Chiara Atik on December 08, 2011
Last week, we asked you whether your parents make you sleep in separate bedrooms when you bring a boyfriend or girlfriend home.
The results were fairly even: 40% say your parents let you sleep together, and 36% say your parents make you sleep apart.

20% of you (a not insignificant amount!) say that it’s you who feels too awkward to sleep in the same bed as a significant other under your parents’ roof.
Here’s a sampling of what you had to say:
“They did [make us sleep in separate bedrooms] at first, then they put twin beds in one room so we could stay in the same room.”
“Yes, despite living with the person for several years. It was all about a respect thing and I totally get it. Their house, their rules.”
“I live with my grandmother right now where my boyfriend isn’t even allowed to watch TV in my room at her house.”
“I’ve done this twice and each time I asked my Christian mom for permission.”
“My parents broke down once I had a serious girlfriend in college. Now they don’t even care about randos!”
Very informative, everyone. Thanks for answering!
