Introducing The BreakUp Box: Would You Use It?by Chiara Atik on October 19, 2011
Sometimes, the hardest part of a breakup is all the stuff that you can no longer look at without crying. Your favorite book is no longer tolerable because it’s the one you lent her on your third date. Your sleep attire of choice, which just happens to be his “Seniors ’02″ Tshirt, is now impossible to slip on without bursting into tears. That espresso machine that he or she gave you for Christmas last year is… actually, that’s still really nice. You’re gonna want to use that eventually. But not yet.
So what do you do with these items which you can’t seem to disassociate from your ex, but can’t bring yourself to throw away? Well, now you can ship it away, using a new service called The Breakup Box.
The message behind Breakup Box is simple: Break-ups suck. You don’t want to look at anything that reminds you of your ex. Send it away, and get it back in six months or so, when the pain has subsided a bit. If, at the end of your prepaid period ($30 for up to 2 years) you decide you need more time, you can add more. On the other hand, if you’re more “John, who?” than “Boo hoo!”, they’ll send you your stuff back, at which point it’s up to you to decide whether that old t-shirt is soft enough to keep sleeping in, or if you want to keep a love letter or two, just to show your grandkids one day.
What do you guys think? Would you use The Breakup Box?
