Do you believe me when I tell you I love Gwyneth Paltrow? Because I do. But the fact that this is her second appearance on “Dumb Celebrity Love Quotes” is a bit disconcerting.

Last time we heard snippets of marital wisdom from Gwyneth, she was hinting about married life not always being so rosy. Yesterday, more evidence of this came through in an interview.

“‘I am a great romantic – but I also think you can be a romantic and a realist. Life is complicated and long and I know people that I respect and admire and look up to who have had extra-marital affairs. It’s like we’re flawed – we’re human beings and sometimes you make choices that other people are going to judge. That’s their problem but I think that the more I live my life, the more I learn not to judge people for what they do. I think we’re all trying our best but life is complicated.”

What do you guys think of this? On the one hand, Gwyneth is right…life is complicated. On the other hand, cheating isn’t that complicated at all.

Look at it this way: If you have an open marriage, like Tilda Swinton does, for example, then that’s one thing. Clearly, monogamy doesn’t work for everyone.

But if monogamy doesn’t work for you, then that’s something your partner has the right to be aware of. The issue of extra-marital affairs isn’t that you’re sleeping with someone who you aren’t married to, but rather, that you’re doing it behind your partner’s back.

But, again, life is complicated, so…

What do you guys think? Does Gwyneth have an enlightened definition of marriage? Or is cheating, in your mind, always reprehensible? Let us know!
